It's been a while since we talked about this, but with the aim of getting the rules more complete, I'm bringing it up again... Is everyone cool with 33kts = 33sec, with the ship's time going up 1 sec/100ft per knot slower than 33, and vice versa for faster? I know some groups have radar guns, but I for one don't have the cash to pony up, and if we use a simple formula, our dispersed membership can speed-check their ships at home without having any fancy gear, either Please discuss. Or just say 'eh, I'm cool with it.'
I'm always up for the K.I.S.S. principle (less head aches=more fun) P.S. Tug, I'm still working on the I-400 plug, the holidays slowed everything up for me, plus looking at land to buy and build a house has been taking up a lot of time from the hobby process
Yeah, me too... On the very plus side, I got a bunch a bunch of woodworking tools. The router table is going to vastly improve my hull & plug making time... instead of cutting all those 1/4" x 1/4" notches in keel and frames with the itty bitty scrollsaw blade, I put the 1/4" straight bit in the table router and do all the notches in less than 2 minutes! Whee! As far as the speed rule goes, I think we can go with the '33kts = 33 sec' rule, given the lack of dissenting opinions.
Wouldnt the bigger the ship size the faster it would go? By that I mean The smaller the scale the more the speed is scaled down meaning 22 knots 22 sec would be more realistic. But thats what I my self think. Please reply showing your conserns of this.
Really until we try it we won't really know. A simple system is better, what the base is will have to be determined experimentally. Right now the rules are basically big gun rules with some allowances for scale
Hi Guys Hey I am interested and so is a friend of mine , what are your speed rules? Like how many knots equal how many secs. I have been do small guns for years and might give this a try. Buddy
