The Treaty combat group is planning to schedule some multi-format events with the other clubs again this season. The idea is that two clubs simply take turns holding sortie style battles. We will have some Treaty-only events during the season in order to try out some of our ideas with the scenario, campaign, and theme type battles. But we also want to be able to have get-togethers with our friends in the other clubs in order to enjoy their company, and have fun running, and talking up the boats. We will probably continue to invite the big-gun groups most often, in order to get that format more active (in our area), again. And we would like to invite the fast-gun groups to some of our events as well. Late in the season, we hope to have at least one event with the Battlestations (96th scale) group. In the past we have tried to schedule certain groups to specific events, only to have them not show up, when it didn't work out for them. So with that being said.. This year, what we would like to try is to simply post up-dates to our event schedule as to when, and where our events will be held, and then ask all of the other formats to see if one of them would be able to attend. So that is the game plan on our end of things. I am not sure that I can honestly say that I would anticipate any of the other formats being able to invite the Treaty group to their Nats events, although, perhaps it is not out-of-the-question. Perhaps you all can consider inviting us to a spring/fall regionals, or any of the make-up events that you shedule. Treaty uses NAMBA, but I think that most of the groups also have some sort of one-time insurance form that might be able to deal with any possible insurance issues. Thanks. Mikey
All We have decided to try to turn our Memorial Day weekend event in Xenia, Ohio into a multi-format event. We are posting an invite to the fast-gun groups to attend our Memorial Day weekend event, and battle in between our normal sorties. If we do not get a firm commitment by May 1, then we may opt to pass the invite over to the big-gun groups to see if they are interested. The folks taking part in the re-enactment of the actual Denmark Straits battle will decide when to have their battle, during the event. We will post up-dates. Mikey
All The reasoning behind inviting the fast-gun groups to the Memorial Day event, is that the Battlestations group will not be ready that early in the year to battle. So we plan to invite them to one of the later events this year. The big-gun folks (at least on a local level) could probably use more time to get ready as well. So we will post an invite to them later on this year also. And, most of the fast-gun groups will already have had at least one event this year, and probably would stand a chance of attending, without conflicting with their other spring regional events, or their Nats events which will be in July. Mikey
All We have not gotten any commitment from the fast-gun groups for attending the Memorial Day weekend multi-format event in Xenia, Ohio, to battle in between our sorties. So at this time, we are offering up an invite to all of the big-gun groups to attend. We have some new folks that are interested in seeing a big-gun battle, and have more interests in building ships to the big-gun rules. If you are interested in attending, please contact me at MDeskin@aol.com Thanks. Mikey
Alas, I know that MWC will probably not be a big presence there becaue Bob has a ginormous battle (aka 'The Tangler')that weekend, that is the last big battle before Nats.
Yes. I saw that there was a battle out in Mo. the same weekend, which is a shame. We will try to avoid that happening again in the future. Mikey
I know. One should never skip attending an event if they can make it out. And I could have come over on Saturday, or Sunday, but had some other boat things going on, that I felt needed to be taken care of. I got those things taken care of on Sat, and Sunday, and planned to drop in at the meet today. But I found out that all of the out-of-towners had headed home yesterday. So I am working on my Prinz Eugen instead. So I have to admit that I missed out on a great time, with a great bunch of folks. But I am glad that everyone that did attend had a wonderful time. Well done. Mikey
All Starting in August, pretty much all of the combat events that I will be hosting in Ohio will be multi-format with both Treaty, and the MBG taking part. The two formats will take turns battling sorties. So all Big-gunners will be invited as well. There has been some interest in big-gun in the past here in our area. Now we are seeing some building. Now we just need to get some battles scheduled. Mikey
I have heard that there has been some animosity between different formats in the past. I like the idea of the various formats are putting past behind and coming together. I will keep passing the updates on to the BIG GUNNERs, and hope to be able to show up at some of the Multi-format events.
