so getting close to be ready to purchase running gear.
saw an advertisment for this and thought i should run it by yall.
since the Iowa is gonna be running four motors/ four screws, figure this may be the tickets to powering them without stacking four individual escs????

Looks like a neat solution to try out. 20 amps is a bit low IMO, but could work.

Curious though, why power all four shafts? The ship will be giving up a lot of turning with four shafts, and the ship isn't the best turning big ship out there to begin with.

It does not have reverse, because it's intended for quadcopters. Can't use it.

Good point. No reverse would make it tough to stop the ship. Heh

not being to versed in ESCs. being that its fully programable doesnt mean you can program reverse?
i had plans to power all four and maybe program to reverse directions on some when hard cornering....

Many escs, especially aircraft escs, do not have reverse. That was one of the challenges we faced while trying to find a brushless esc for our ships that not only had reverse, but an instant reverse (as opposed to a delayed reverse). Might be a good idea to check the manual of the esc to see if it specifically says that the esc has reverse.

Since you want to power all shafts, you could use forward only ESCs. Set up the controls so that when going forward only two of the shafts are driven, while the other two are stationary. For reverse, the other two shafts are driven. That way you get the advantage of the stationary props working as drag props, which will improve turning. I used a similar setup on my Henri IV and it worked fine.

Sounds plausible, just need a radio that'll do mixes, and those are hardly rare or expensive these days.

This will obviously be experiments for the pond. but then maybe this quad esc could work under that idea.
coould be just something i pick up to test out. its not overy expensive or anything.
