Hello all, My name is Jef Mitchell and I am attempting to get into this fascinating sport. I have been reading up on it for about a week now and I am going to head out this weekend to purchase the basic materials to indulge in this hobby. My two questions are this. 1) Any pointers from an old sea dog? and 2) Is there anyone in the state of Mississippi or surrounding areas that I may meet up with to assist me in getting started. Sincerely, Jef Mitchell [Guu]
Hi Jeff, welcome to the hobby and good luck building a ship. So what boat have you decided to start with? Remember, the smaller the ship, the tougher it is to build and squeeze all the equipment inside the hull. Take a look at the website for Model Warship Combat, Inc., as they have a list of clubs and local contacts. I am sure others on this site will point you in the right direction as to other clubs near you. Steve
Hey There Guu! Welcome to the wonderful world of Warship Combat. I'm in Starkville, Ms and currently working on a Des Moines class cruiser. As this is my first ship I'm only gonna be a little help during building, but it should be more entertaining with two.
you too need to get together! There is nothing to help you keep going than to have someone else building at the same time.
There are at least three of us in Louisiana. We are having an event in March. In Boutte. We do MWCI. Welcome aboard.
Hey Jeff, I am located in Monroe Louisiana, about 2 hours west of You. I battle MWCI and have a Scharnhorst, a Westfalen, and, hopefully, a working Kongo sometime soon. Give me a shout if you have any questions! John
