Hi guys, I'm from Uxbridge, Ontario (thats near Toronto). I'm building a French dreadnought from WWI called Bretagne for IRCWCC combat. I chose Bretagne mainly because nobody else (that I know of) has one, and the plans were free (they were on the SHD website). I've been to a few OAF (Ontario Attack Fleet) battles and have skippered a couple of times, and even sank once. Just thought I should introduce myself. Chase
Hey Chase, ITs nikki, im new here two, i olny Posted on here 17-times, so im still know here, Like i said on te other site, if you need help asked ok.. Nikki
Welcome aboard! I think you will find a lot of support and help here, so if you have questions ask away! Hey yuo have never met Mike Deskin have you? Mikey is really in to the French stuff and could proably help ! Buddy
Chase Welcome to the site, the hobby, and especially the French navy. The Bretagne has never been built by anyone for the combat that I know of, so your's may be the first. That would be too cool. Like the others have mentioned already, if you have any questions, please ask. Someone will help you out. Vive la France. Mikey
Welcome! I hope you've been learning all the popular French naval expressions, such as "Don't shoot! We surrender!" and "The white flag is in the laundry, here use my underpants instead." Just kidding. The Bretagne should be interesting. Do you plan on building it to look like WW1 or WW2 vintage?
I plan on building the "as built in 1913" variant as I haven't really found enough pictures of it after it got its refit in the 1930's, and I don't have plans for after the refit either. Maybe at a later time I'll make a second deck with the post refit superstructure, but for now the "as built" is what I'm going for. Just out of curiosity, does anybody have any information on what colours the French navy was painting their ships in WWI? I can't find any info on the subject, and obviously all the pictures of Bretagne from back then are black & white. --Chase
