Welcome to the hobby. The Bluegrass Battle Group is just north of you, here in Louisville. Right now the concentration is building up the club in the area and getting a few more battlers in the area as well.

I have a open invitation in my workshop for those needing help, just give me a heads up when you might want to pop in for a build session.

I am also preparing for a "Group Build" project to be run through the forum here. Builders who join the group will be able to build either the Axis or Allied ship we choose. This build will be done in gold fashion wood framing. I would recommend getting in on this build, especially being so close to me in location...

I will send you a pm with my address and phone number.

Welcome to the hobby! I'm a little south of you, right near Greenville SC which in this hobby counts as almost right next door. These forums are a decent starting point and I'd also recommend checking out the IRCWCC Home Page as well as joining the IRCWCC email list which you can find in the Yahoo Groups. (IRCWCC = International Radio Controlled Warship Combat Club)

There are a few different subsets of the hobby that have slightly different rules but "Fast Gun" (which is what the IRCWCC) plays is the largest with the most events across the country. I obviously recommend starting there.

The first big decision in what ship to build. We can help you and give suggestions (there are also threads with this info if you do a little digging) but the first question would be do you have any ship or nationality preference before we start just suggesting ships. (They are a lot of work to build so it helps to have one that you're interested in not just one that some guy on a forum told you was good.)

Hmm... looks more like a workstation to build virtual ships vice a workshop to get nasty in. Where's the saws? The Dremel? The sawdust & fiberglass?

If you can come down to Statesboro, GA on Memorial Day weekend, we're having a big battle that would be good to come to, maybe drive a few ships, look inside a bunch of them, take a mess of pics.

All any real good captain needs in a workshop is a piece of sand paper, and a can of bondo nearby:woot:!

That puts you very close to me Charley. I am in Louisville. We need to seriously get a group going in this area...

If you build it, they will come!
