Hi from Radioman (Tom). I am new to RC Warships but not to RC Boating. I haven been into RC Boating since the 1980's and have built PT boats, tugs and great lake freighters. I am building a small carrier now and have 1/144 scale plans for an esscort carrier. Don't know of any warship clubs in the Milwaukee area though.Any help will be welcome.

I don't know of anyone in Milwaukee. Kim & Matt are in Central WI, Steve, Chuck & Martin are from SW WI. There is a large very active group in Mpls, MN area. We battle (Or build) once a month. There are a couple of guys in Chicago.
If you get serious and need some contact info let me know.

Bob thanks for the replay. I will keep you in mind. What type of ship would be good for a beginner?

I have always pointed guys to cruisers with two guns and in the 11lb range. Or to the smaller battle cruisers with 3 guns like I-Boat, VDT, Moltke. The long BCs Lion, Kongo, Scharny are just as easy to build but harder to battle.

If you have questions, we have lots of answers - and are happy to select them with greater precision than a Magic 8Ball.

Thanks! I'll be sure to ask questions as soon as I figure out what to build. I hate to cut up a fiberglass hull, so I might just scratch build it. I have done this before so it is not new to me.

It takes all the guess work out of it, and if/when you choose to upgrade you can move the internals to a new boat. Mark made an excellent kit, and there are plenty of builders on here to give you advice on finishing it up.
Get it on the water and battle it, then build your dream ship once you see what combat is all about.

    Hi Tom,

Read your first post and had to Chuckle...
I'm also working up parts and pieces for a 1/144 scale Escort Carrier, either a Bogue or Casablanca class boat. Been hunting down and picking up Wildcats, Avengers, Hellcats, Helldivers... When I find em...
Good luck with your build... It looks like a Cool Subject.

    Regards,
    -gus

I have been doing the same. Looking at making a few cast parts once I get a master made. Good luck.
