Either the HMS King Edward VII or the Lord Nelson.

Does anyone know where I can buy a set of plans?

    Thanks,
    Stu

Hmmm... tricky question. Let me check my sources. Never really looked for those. Bob Pottle does a lot of British ship modelling, he may have some suggestions.

Anachronous on this list has an un-healthy love for pre-dreads (j/k!). He might know where one could look for plans for either of those ships. Honestly, I think it would be kind of cool to see one out there.

i don't know where the plans on ebay came from, but the only established source i found was the British equivalent of the National Archives.... and was told by some British friends that it would cost over $400 to get the plans.

Yes I do have an unhealthy fascination for the preDreadnoughts. I have not checked for the King Edward or Lord Nelson but Loyalhanna Dockyard has the Taubman plans store and they have a good collection of unusual ships. They will have to be rescaled for 1/144 in most cases.

Other than that the National Maritime museum in Great Britain would be the best source. Klibben is correct in that they will probably be pricey. I am waiting for them to get back to me on some prices for copies of their HMS Benbow plans.

    or the email address Plansandphotos@nmm.ac.uk
Be sure to specifiy what ship and the year of launch.

*EDIT* Checked Loyalhanna but could not find either of those.

I remember seeing photos of a KEVII that had been modelled. I think it was up in Canada.

I just had Michael in Australia make me a Semi-dreadnought, the Radetzky, Austrian WW1 ship. To add to my VU. Soon the Austrain fleet will sail again.

The Radetzky is a 3.5 unit in fast gun, she can be reloaded, and battery swapped after every battle. She has 2 props and 2 rudders at 456 ft. So she should turn pretty well. I plan on these ships to be my traveling ships. The Roma is fine for close to home, but a real pain carrying long distances.

Michael had a book with hull and rib drawings, so it should be pretty accurate. He made the plug, mould, and charged me $85 for the hull, plus shipping of course.

Marc ordered the Titanic for his next project, Michael warned him that it turned just the the real one, very slowly, and recommended another ship like the Maruntania, since it turns so much better, but no he wanted the Titanic. So we will have another big target at Nats.

Since he had to make the mould and plug, it took him about 4 weeks from the time I ordered it, just today he emailed me saying he had it ready to ship. Usually it takes about 10 days to 2 weeks to arrive, my Roma, Mogami, and VU were also made by Michael, he gave me a great price on the Rad since I have been purchasing so many hulls from him. He's the President of one of the big gun clubs in Australia. It runs about $55 or so to ship, varies daily due to dollar fluctuations.

Here is a list of ships that he has the plugs for, he usually makes them in about a week.

    HMS Abercombie
    HMS Agincourt
    Baden
    Belfast
    Bearn
    Bismark
    Bolzano
    Capitani Romani

    Dunquerke
    Deuchland
    Erebus

    Littorio
    USS Manhattan
    Mauretania
    USS Midway
    Mogodor
    Moltke/Goeben
    Monta Rosa
    Nagato
    Nelson
    Normandie
    USS North Carolina
    Nurnberg
    Queen Mary
    Radetzky

Do you know if it's a Tone or a Mogami? They actually have quite different hull shapes. I used to think they were the same until Bob Pottle told me other wise, and when I looked it up myself, he proved to be quite correct. Tone is more slab sided, while the Mogami has some fairly radical bulges going on. Frankly, I like both ships and have been torn as to which one I wanted to build for Treaty...Mogami is my favorite Japanese cruiser, but Tone is unique...not many people would actually build one for combat, and I like being different.

I'm also not a scale modeler(these boats are toys to me, they don't need to be PERFECT to work); I am quite willing to build a Mogami on a Tone hull (and not deal with sheeting those crazy bulges) but I figured my chances of someone actually having a Tone hull were slim to none given its armament and rudder set up.

I will contact him and let you know. My Mogami's were made by Brent F in Australia, but they work together on hulls.

My Mogami's bulges look like the first bulged version as light cruisers, since they don't stick out as far as what you see in the drawings for the CA
