Anyone here tried printing with petg yet? or any of the other pet* filaments? I just got a roll of esun petg ( eSUN PETG filament 1.75mm Blue 1kg(2.2lb) Spool for Makerbot, Reprap, UP, Afinia, Flash Forge and all FDM 3D Printers, Blue Semi-transparent: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific ) that i'm planning to try. Hoping to be able to print stuff that I've been failing at in ABS and possibly with better results for our needs in combat.
Well, I'd like to say I really like the stuff. And its half true. I really like the finished product.. when i get one. I've been having incessant issues with it jamming up in the hot end. It seems the most likely reason is that my all-metal hotend (e3d v6) is staying a bit too warm too high and the melt zone is not as tight as it should be. If you have a PTFE lined hotend and a sharp nozzle, you might find it worth a try. If you've got a broader shield nozzle that tends to attract melty plastic, maybe not. I haven't tested any finished pieces in front of the guns yet, but I have assaulted a few with a torx driver. The one that did break (1.6mm walls) under a particularly vicious stab broke perpendicular to the layers, so that was encouraging.
Maybe a J-Head hotend? The hotend on my Mendel positively LOVES to stick to petg. But then, it's the same head that your O2 had stock.
