Just thought that I would pass along some interesting parts and their sources: MXL timing belts and pulleys (about right for our size, I suggest the kevlar/urethane, they are a bit more flexible). available in various standard sizes/bores. Generally an anodized aluminum pulley will be 7-10$ with belts in the 2$ range 1/4" mxl should be plenty for our purposes www.mcmaster.com www.sdp-si.com Geargrip flexible couplings https://sdp-si.com/eStore/PartDetail.asp?Opener=Group&PartID=57845&GroupID=197 Spider flexible couplings http://www.mcmaster.com/nav/enter.asp?pagenum=1115
I agree, I've had a chance to check them out now... these are good. You've obviously used these.. have you had any issues?
I've used the geargrip couplings on my yamato. I never had trouble but some people did have the rubber section fail. I am planning on using the timing belt in the ole Tirpitz. The spider I like because it is a bit cheaper than the geargrip and I don't think that there is any way for it to truly completely fail. -Greg
And now for more stuff I have dug up at mcmaster. Say you want to run a timing belt drive with two opposed rotation propellers. Get a double sided XL belt and 4 pulleys and it can be done.
