OK, I know several of you guys use DelftShip for modelling your hulls. I'm just getting started with DelftShip (I'm about halfway thru the hull lines tutorial), and had a few questions for you experts out there...
    1) Do you model only the hull, or do you model the SS, barbettes, turrets, gun tubs, etc in DelftShip, too?
    2) How easy is it to create ribs at fixed distances when your hull stations have different spacing? For example, in Battlestations, I want to create ribs 3/8" thick spaced 3" apart, but the hull stations that come with the plans are on varied spacings (usually less than an inch apart, some times almost 2" apart).
    3) Is there anyone out there who uses DelftShip to create the hull and output the DXF that then uses TurboCad to finish the prep work (make notches in the ribs, make keels, etc)?
    Thanks in advance,

    Carl

I'll try to answer as much as I can.

    1) For most ships, there is no need to model the superstructure in addition to the hull. The only time I attempted this was for the predreadnought battleship Borodino, because the superstructure and hull were difficult to distinguish from each other. For most ships, the superstructure is simply on top of the hull, so there is no need to model it in Delftship.

    2) IIRC it is fairly easy. Once the hull is modeled to your satisfaction, you can change where the rib lines appear. Changing which waterlines, longitudinal sections, and rib sections appear on the output plans is under a menu. It's been a while so I don't recall which one though, so hopefully someone who still has the program can fill in the details.

    3) I have not done this, but I am curious how well it works. I've got several ship hulls modeled in Delftship, and I'd love to see them turned into laser-cut hulls.

    Thanks, Kotori!

I gather from your response that you don't use Delftship anymore. Can you share why not?

    Thanks,

    Carl

Probably something to do with being in basic training for the past two months?

Ah, I see. Sorry, I don't have time to keep up with all the forums, here. I only read a few of them regularly, and the general forum isn't one of them...

    Thanks for serving, Kotori!
