Hey, folks. This Sunday was another glorious battle for the WWCC. I finally got a chance to try my RC Hero video camera onboard the mighty battleship HMS Rodney, and the results were spectacular. I've done a lot of experimenting with onboard video, but Sunday's footage was by FAR the best I've ever seen, hands-down. From the opening broadside, which helped sink the IJN Haguro, to sailing past the superstructure of my sunken battleship, and even diving the wrecks in Balsa Bottom Sound, the camera performed exactly the way I'd hoped, but never gotten from previous cameras. You can view the battle footage here: pt 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehkb_9VBxeg pt 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8lXzwFkALU Exploring the wrecks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mqPnhHbe1s Unfortunately, I made one mistake. I forgot to *stop* filming after exploring the sunken ships, so the camera filled up its memory with almost an hour of watching the Sun move across the sky instead of sorties 2, 3, 4, and my duel with Gascan.
The camera is approximately 1.5"x2.5"x3". It's too heavy for any ship under 20,000 tons. While they don't outright capsize, the footage I recorded from Lutzow a couple months ago made me seasick. On larger ships like Rodney, Iowa, Viribus Unitis, etc. it is great.
It's a pretty sweet little camera, where did you get it? I could see a lot of uses for something like that.
I mentioned to bb26 if he decides to enter his ship in the Ring of Death he can mount my Go Pro Hero to his #2 Turret to film it.
