Hello all. I enjoyed making RC boats in the 70's while in high school. Since retirement I have returned to the hobby. My latest endeavour is a refurbishment of a 1:150 model of HMS Lion, a Royal Navy battle-cruiser from WWI. I completed it in 1976. It has not seen water since 1980. I joined the local club here in Ottawa, Canada and after seeing their corvettes etc I decided to rebuild Lion. In my teens I omitted many details, but now I have a 3D printer to make parts which I had no way of making then. She will have rotating turrets, and I plan to buy a sound board for which I've already found .wav files such as the steam whistle "woop....Woop...WOOP" and bosun's calls. I bought a "steam" generator but I'm having trouble getting it to work. The reason I came to your site was that on MSW, I mentioned I have no drawings for the many ship's boats required, in particular the steam picket boats. Another member on MSW "NavyShooter" pointed to 3d files available here. I downloaded the 45ft steam launch file and have printed two for my build. I'm very grateful to have found this and especially to the person who created it and made it freely available! I've never made a model which shoots in combat; I don't think there's any club anywhere near me, but it is interesting to read about. I don't think my heart could take watching a model of mine being hot to pieces, though!
