I've on and off watched Big Gun/RC Naval Combat stuff for a while, and I highly suspect there isn't a Chapter near me< I live near Appleton, WI>. Which is a shame, but I still -adore- the ships them selves..

So I was curious, is there any site that sort of sells these things on the level of detail and size? I don't really need the function cannons, I just sort of want a 4 foot model of a warship to putter around in the fishing pond near my house :)

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have been looking for a similar site for quite awhile but so I could add more detail to my ships. the best I have been able to find are a few sites that build large scale models for display only. The cannons are typically the most expensive part so you could get a ship kit from one of the venders we use and just not make it a combat ship. shouldnt be to difficult to build in that case.

Well, the thing is, I'm less then inclined towards mechanical stuff . It's not really cost, it's just I've no idea where to look. Every place with 'Ready to go/Minimal work needed' sells race boats and other junk. The only 'face' boat I'd ever want for RC is a PT Boat, and then I'd end up tempted to try and launch bottle rockets off it at ducks.

I'm not even sure what all goes into for building my own from scratch, I'm going to assume a fair bit. I've looked at the kits from Striker, and I'll assume none come with the RC gear or engines?

nope none do but since you do not plan to add cannons it makes it much more simple. in fact if you email them they will help you figure out everything you need from them and then you can start a build thread on here and literally anything you would need to know you will find the answer on here

Oh, maybe I should! I mean I'd just -pay- some one to make one for me actually. I think I'll make a build thread like you suggested Jstod :)

There is a very active group in MN with three people in WI that also battle with us. Check out portpolarbear.com.
