Not sure if the other topic ever got through or not, so here goes...

I'm looking at the 1800's for inspiration, as I enjoy the era of Steam, due in part because of the elegance of ship designs I find lacking in modern times..

I'm looking at either a Torpedo Gun Boat, or an Armored Ram..or the Novik frigate depending on classification of country/era>

Any one mind telling me what to expect, and if Ramming is allowed?

BattleStations is Predreadnought friendly. We go back to 1890 or so. We don't allow ramming though. Also we have not worked out a system to compensate for the weaker armor of that era. I am leaning towards just cutting the thickness of Compound, Nickle Steel and all the other early types in half. If it is a modern armor type, Krupps Cemented it is use the thick ness as is.

We have not worked up the speed fully either, but all ships will be able to do 15 knots when fighting other Predreads or 22 knots in mixed company.

Well, the Novik did a consistent 25 knots..I suppose I should likely stick to a Cruiser...

I need to consider the fact I have to find a club first too though .

Plus the Novik is a fantastic looking ship.

I think you should build the HMS Thunder Child. Martian invaders beware! ;)

Thunder Child never really existed, but it is believed that she was based upon the real Torpedo ram ship, HMS Polyphemus. A really interesting ship, but a bit of a challenge to build, I think.
