How do I mount my rudder through the bottom of the hull and make it turn without leaking water through?

I use 1/8th brass rod for the rudder shaft and use the size it slides into for the tube. That goes through the hull. A couple of drops of light oil and you're set. It normally doesn't leak but if you are having a leaking problem, extend the tube up over water level outside the boat.

I always just build a short stuffing tube for the rudder post.
