I just cleaned up water channel edges on my Lutzow. I was wondering which of these products I have on hand would be best to resecure motor mount onto hull. 1. Goop 2. E-6000 3. Polyester resin 4. two part epoxy. The gear box is the single 550 drive with 2 output shafts. I am leaning toward the GOOP or E-6000 for shock absorbtion and vibration dampening. Anyone have any first hand experience with either of these 2 products?
I've used Plumber's Goop with no trouble. Also used it to secure the stuffing tube into the ship, to cut vibration.
Hey Jeromy, try to make a wooden mount and use zip ties to hold it in place. I can give you 2 really good reasons. 1. Changing gears will be much easier with it out of the ship. If you are using a dog bone or universal then its very easy to take out. 2. That gearbox needs to be wrapped in netting or taped up to prevent debris from getting in the gears. It will be much easier to do out of the ship 3 BONUS!! Cleaning.. as you will have to take off the netting to clean and lube the gears it will also be easier out of the ship. I think on the side there is a post holding the two flat parts together. You could make small wooden outline that it sits in on the bottom of the hull and a post on each side that you can use to zip tie the box in. It works very well. Later Johnny
Goop is great for vibration dampening and an as an adhesive to secure motor mount gearboxes.I use it.
