Battling season is right around the corner. Our first event on the schedule at this time is our spring regionals in Xenia, Ohio on May 21-22. This will also be our Denmark Straits re-enactment. Hood and Prince of Wales are currently under refit. Both are coming along nicely, and will be ready for sea trials in less than two weeks. After looking at all of the other boats that we have on-hand, to see what our third boat could be, I am looking at Mike D's old British battlecruiser Glorious. For two reasons. First off. It is not that far from being ready to go. It just needs some of the internals installed. Some are already in. Secondly.. I have been wanting to put an aircraft-carrier out on the water. So if I can get this boat on the water for the May battle as the battlecruiser Glorious, then I might be able to then convert her to the aircraft-carrier version of the Furious later on in the season. The beam was only 3 feet wider. I am not sure just hw much different the bulges might have been. But I am looking into it. Mikey
We had a really great build-session today. I worked on the Lutzow and have it almost ready for sea-trials. Phill was able to attend, and re-worked the bow cannon for the Prinz Eugen. That ship is ready for sea-trials. Matt was here, and brought his Massachusetts. We got the drive motors, shafts, rudders, and cannons installed. The ship is coming along nicely. Dustin dropped in with his big-gun Richelieu. He worked on the cannons and stuff for a while. Then he saw the wooden Kongo that Bobo had put together. He has decided to build that ship for Treaty. So he was working on some of the radio stuff, getting the hull ready to seal, and such. Eric was planning to attend as well, but was feeling under the weather. We all had a great time watching movies a lot, and working on the boats some.. Mikey
