I've been researching Sigment replacement adhesives for patching during battles. For me, lacquer is not a viable alternative because of the fumes it gives off.

I ordered some nitrocellulose fletching adhesive and have been trying it out for the last three battles. This adhesive has worked very well, performing exactly how Sigment would perform when patching wet wood. It has more smell than Sigment, but significantly less smell than lacquer. It is also slightly thinner than Sigment, but that really didn't impact its performance.

To apply the adhesive I bought some bottles and drilled a 1/16" hole in the tip.

Funny. I bought a smaller bottle of that from them to test at Nats. Duco Cement (available from Amazon) is also very similar and worked decently for me.

y'ever try water based dope? I love the stuff. no stink, dries fast. and when you need some in a pinch, you can make it by watering down Elmer's glue-all
