The New Jersey decided it was 'wear a silly german hat day'! Ok... So I get a little silly while sniffing 'glass resin.
Well... I think if New Jersey wants to wear a silly German Hat (heeheehee-- that's hilarious!!) we can look the other way, however, is she gets naked, throws a lamp shade on her head and starts dancing on the table...... [:0] [}] Hey that deck looks like what I want to do on my Iowa/ Missouri, or whatever I decide it's going to be.... do you have any more pictures??? How far apart/ what locations are those cross supports??? Do they allow easy enough access to the mechanical gear??
you altered the bow from the origional plans, Iowas' didn't have the "rounded nose", your boat a Yamato wana'-be?
Yeah, I 'modified' it. hehe. Right. There are three things on this ship that aren't perfect, but that's what happens when you fiberglass something completely from scratch for the first time... Things get 'modified'. AllnAll; I think she turned out pretty well. After I finish with the Tirpitz, I will probably return to her & redo some of the things I've learned since then. #1 - The bulb in the front; should be straight. Didn't realize it until just recently that is not quite right. ->Fix? 10 minutes with a dremel & a power sander should about do it. #2 - The Atlantic bow isn't curved quite enough. I'll have to take apart much of the bow to fix it. Not terribly happy how that one turned out. Estimate: several days. eegh. #3 - The stern isn't as bulbous as it should be. -> Fix? about 2oz of kittyhair fiberglass & 1/2 hour. Yamato wanna be? Yamato wanna beat up, maybe. This hull is an absolute beast. I beefed it up quite considerably, was thinking about ramming/hammering a couple yammers... Almost 1" in some places. Not really sure if it was worth the effort; but I would say no, not at all. More pix? Sure... Not today though. Not sure why I never posted her before this?
looks like the one the Japs look at on there posters thru there thick glasses but this one she fires back [}]
Would be interested in the pictures as well, my next ship was going to be Big Mamie. but two guys in my group built her this year so I'm thinking of building Big J still a New England ship so its okay not as good as the Massachusetts for local but I will live. Listen to me my first ship hasn’t even seen water yet and I'm already planning my next ship quick call the doctor I think caught it []
Yeah Monk, I think it goes around. I haven't cut parts for my Iowa class hull yet and already I want to build a Scharnhorst and her "ugly sister" so my son and I can raid some merchant shipping
