The ship listed as USS Alaska CB1 Unfinished has been greatly reduced in price to $225.00 with free shipping.
    Thanks

RE: USS Alaka CB1 Price Reduction Perhaps a total madman was a little harsh.
Perhaps a wild and crazy guy will fit nicely.
    Haha.

RE: USS Alaka CB1 Price Reduction Converted to Big Gun, she'd probably kick a fair amount of butt, she was built to keep up with the fast carrier task forces, decent main armament and decent secondaries.

I actually saw one of these fine ships in big-gun years ago. In the MBG.
    And you are correct.
A nice turn of speed. Good firepower. Very handsome.
Didn't turn too good. But you can't have everything.
I have never seen one in fast-gun. But I think I might have seen one in a photo on one of the fast-gun sites.
It was hard to be sure. But it sure did look like an Alaska.
I have always loved this class.

RE: USS Alaka CB1 Price Reduction Personally, I've always thought that if Scharnhorst gets called a BB, Alaska should. The 'battlecruiser' moniker that she has puts her at a competitive disadvantage in Fast Gun (really big with only 3 guns).

RE: USS Alaka CB1 Price Reduction Clark,
Scharie had the armor of a battleship, but her guns would have made her a cruiser!!

RE: USS Alaka CB1 Price Reduction Scahrnhorst had 11" guns, not really cruiser-ish... the 14" armor belt is impressive. Alaska only had 12" armor in the belt, but also had 12" guns... Sounds battleship-ish to me ;)

RE: USS Alaka CB1 Price Reduction Of course if you read Friedman she's a cruiser. A very big cruiser. Even in his cruiser book. :)

RE: USS Alaka CB1 Price Reduction That's what Conways, and Garske says as well.
Basically a cruiser that was no longer limited by treaty restrictions as to displacement, and gun size.

RE: USS Alaka CB1 Price Reduction I think most references that I have seen mentioned 9 inches of armor for Alaska.
    And virtually no underwater protection.

RE: USS Alaka CB1 Price Reduction This lovely ship is no longer on the market.
A total madman from Ohio grabbed it up.
