1/144 Fiberglass hull with windows cut. There is some bondo on the hull used to fill air bubble holes in the thick fiberglass that I used. Aluminum bilge keels 1/8 x1/8 steel stringer deck rim and deck rudder with stainless steel shaft and 2 bronze bearings and gear drive with servo. servo has been waterproofed but I do not guarantee it Motor mounts (hose clamps) are installed and 2 motors are installed also 2 stuffing tubes with 2 bronze bearings each and lube fittings with screw on caps installed 2 new props custom form fitting fiberglass internal armor installed 2 aluminum Barbettes in bow with ball bearings for rotate on tall one and port pivot on the shorter one which can be used in the stern or bow. This sounded like a good idea at first, until Tommy Tanner mentioned dirty muddy water getting into the bearings and jamming them. The bearings are not sealed so it might be risky to use them the piece of deck for the barbettes is aluminum 4 barrels and 90 degree elbows that pivot up or down. No Guns or magazines No super structure Awesome set of prints 2 bb proof turrets mold to make turrets. If you can get it to make good turrets, you might be able to sell them. I used urathane but it was old and had a lot of bubbles in it. To work properly a vacuum pump would have to be used to draw all of the air out. $350 plus shipping
RE: USS Alaska CB1 unfinished Dave Sorry to see that you are selling your Alaska. I have started building mine, but have not made much progress so far. Too many other things going on. Yours sounds like a wonderful boat with a good start (especially for someone that is strapped for time). But unfortunately, my route at work leaves me strapped for cash as well. Otherwise I would most likely pick it up from you. Can you post some photos of her anyhow? I am really looking forward to running this boat. Hope all is well with you and your family. Mikey
RE: USS Alaska CB1 unfinished Mikey Sorry to hear of your lack of work. A lot of that going on with the economy in such bad shape. I want to go to smaller boats as I get older and am looking at building an Erin. All is well with the family. Hope all is well with you and yours. Dave Vogtman
RE: USS Alaska CB1 unfinished Sorry to hear it as well. Mike Mangus seems to like his Erin so it should be a fun ship for you. The Iron Dukes are also popular. If you send Brian Koehler an email, he'll list your Alaska on the MWC 'For Sale' page, never hurts to advertise!
RE: USS Alaska CB1 unfinished You wouldnt happen to have some pics would you? I might be interested . Buddy
RE: USS Alaska CB1 unfinished If you email them to me I'll post them here, it's faster by far than explaining
RE: USS Alaska CB1 unfinished oh, sorry! This is Clark. I'll send you an email from my email account so you don't have to search for the old address.
RE: USS Alaska CB1 unfinished Here are Dave's pics. Looks like a good deal to me (except zee wrong nationality, of course!! Heil Fluegel!)
RE: USS Alaska CB1 unfinished Dave That is one truly wonderful looking build. I would love to pick it up myself, as what you have already done is way beyond my building abilities. But I am building one myself already, and my hobby budget is rather limited, so I will most likely be transfering the internals out of one of my current ships in order to get her on the water. But you have really outdone yourself on that ship. Mikey
RE: USS Alaska CB1 unfinished Hey Dave, She's really nice! but she's big!! I dont know if you remember me, i was at IRC spring Regionals last April! Nikki
RE: USS Alaska CB1 unfinished Dave, I got to see her the Day Mikey got her! He was able to spot by here on the way home!! she's really a neat boat!! But i told mikey i wouldnt say anything!! Nikki
