Hello guys just wanted to ask you what's the bes beginner boat? I got into this hobby, drifted out, now I"m back in. I've spoken with Keri a bit about it, but we fell out of touch. I have an idea for an absolutely unstoppable boat. 5 or 6 feet of metal with flame throwers, full auto cannons, a spear on the front, 5 pumps, bottle rocket launchers, etc. This boat would go like 20 MPH or so, so it obviously isn't legal, but would be friggin awesome to have, right?! I'm getting carried away, sorry. I want to build/ buy/inherit, whatever, a boat that will act good in a war. I know this is an expensive sport, what with a grand being the average price tag on the shelf. If I built one, it'd motivate a lot of people. Hey, if that 13 year old can build one, I sure as heck can! Down here in the south, people are very item- orientated, meaning, they use material objects to compensate for other things. Sad, but true. You go to school around here, you see that half the kids have smartphones, ipads, some sort of advanced technological device that costs a few hundred dollars. I live in the wealthiest part of GA. My schooling has always been the top. The schools around here beat colleges. My brother's literary magazine group beat colleges with their writing! They robotics club at my brother's old high school beat went agains colleges and won, too! The education in this part of the state is phenominal. What I'm trying to say is that... well I actually don't know where I was going with that XD. I have a lo of connections. I know the owner of Extremeflight, Chris Henson. I know the owner of Atlanta Hobbies, Clif. I am good friends with the salesperson at my local HobbyTownUSA. If I wanted to get the word out, I could. I think I have a chance at spreading this sport. It'd be hard to spread it if I didn't have a display to show how AWESOME this sport is. Okay, maybe I can't. Maybe I'm just an over-optmistic 13 year old who thinks he can change an entire sport by two hobby shops and an rc airplane company. However, look at MLK. Noone thought he could make a change. NOONE. Everyone thought he was just a black man starting riots. But look what he did. He got freedom for an entire race. If a guy can get freedom for an entire race, I can certainly start a spark around here with RC Naval Combat. Am I crazy? Most likely. Is thist going to work? Possibly not. Signed, SHAMOOKILLU
There is a lot of battlers in Georgia, and a few in the Atlanta area. Pop me an IM on the web site here with your email address and I'll get you added to one of the Southeast email lists.
I like the looks of the Brooklyn... could I have more than one pump on that boat? If I were to enter the wars and such, would it have to be as detailed as the experts do on here? What's the dealeyo with it? I imagine I can't add another cannon, but who needs 5 cannons anyway XD I guess a person obsessed with winning would... like me. However, I believe cannons come in sets, correct? I'd have to buy two 3 cannon sets or one 5 cannon set? IDK if they have those.
In MWC or IRCWC, the Brooklyn is a 3 unit ship. 1 cannon or 1 pump is 1 unit. If you were to build the ship to battle in either of those formats, you would have the choice of 3 cannons + no pump, 2 cannons + 1 pump, or 1 cannon + 2 pumps. Most people would go with 2 cannons + 1 pump. As for scale details, the only usual requirement is to model anything that is 1" square or larger in 1:144th scale. Even then, fine details such as ladders are not required. Some people like to add lots of detail to thier ships, others just like to use minimal details.
It may be a good idea to brush up on the rules for the formats closest to you. MWC has a large SE presence and IRCWCC has more than a few guys in the North Carolina area. MWCI rules can be found on thier web site, www.modelwarshipcombat.com. IRCWCC rules I think can be found on www.IRCWCC.com.
