[]GRAF SPEE WAS CUT OUT TODAY. It's Ralph Cole hull and I got to say it cut through nice and easy. Very smooth. I will post the pics here and on teh A.R.C.C site for those members there. Hull number 4. It was a busy day yesterday for cutting out hulls. THe weather forcast was for sunny but it was snowing Fiberglas dust in my yard. I had a mask and goggles so I was fine. While your there you should check out the link to the Bismarck site from BC. Go to the Graf Spee, SHEER and DEUTSHCLAND. Everything you need to know in data and Pictures is there. Excelletn reference for building and history knowledge on these ships. ADM STOKOMOTO
Ok here are Graf Spee after cutting of the hull. Not as much dust as the others. PT1- STBD SIDE GRAF Again time to clean up between the frames and smooth it out. ADM STOKOMOTO
What did you use for a dremel cutting wheel? Bit size for the corners? Looks great, i just got mine so im real excited to get stared. good luck
I used the fiberglass reinforced cut off wheel. It is larger and has woven lines in it. Not the little brittle disks. THose shatter very easily. ADM STOKOMOTO
Get the ones marked 'Dremel'. They are better quality. I used one on 4 of the hulls and it did not shatter like the last 10 I used. Adm Stokomoto
I could be wrong and I hope I am but that stringer looks to wide. I thought tthe stringer was 1/8 wide
I think he said he was making this one for his Combat-X rule set, which he said allowed 1/4 in stringers.
Yes this one is for Combat-X. Stringers in this format can be 1/8 up to 1/4 max thickness. ADM STOKOMOTO
Dremel has some new cut off wheels with a new style of mandrel where the wheels just go on by pulling a collar back on the mandrel and putting on the disk with a quarter turn. If you use the metal cutting wheel you will find that even after cutting 3 hulls worth of windows the original wheel is still almost the same size as a new one and cutting really well, have not had one break yet! great stuff!
