Hello everybody, this is my first time on here and I just had a question...
I have a hull I am planning on using to build a sub. its plastic so I was wondering if I could use this the same as a fiberglass hull and cut out windows in the sides for the balsawood armor (penetrable places). Is this something I can do or do the rules require it to be fiberglass?...

Depends on how hard the plastic is. it may not be a good candidate to take BB or ball bearing fire. Subs are also notoriously difficult to build in our scale.

    What he said.
Plus model plastic tends to be much more brittle and as well as less robust than fiberglass. Plus make sure it is in the correct scale for the format you want to get into. You could ask the people here in the know if the plastic hull would be a good way to make a fiberglass plug to make a fiberglass hull. But, read Bob Pottles thread about the I-400 he had to extend the keel of the ship down beyond actual scale. This in hopes of making the ship more stable in the water.
Which sub were you thinking as well? Have you checked some ot the boards on the internet that deal with RC subs first to get some ideas?

Check with you group, I know that in BIG guns small ships, in your case boats, are allowed to add 3/8 of an inch to the hul below the water linel.

This helped me greatly with my Mogador.
