I discoverd one thing. When using the TD firing boards I use the same wire guage as the solenoids. Anything larger wont bend well and takes up space in the radio box. I have been using 22g wire and will be shopping around for a more flexible jacket for the next batch of wire.

I skotchkote mine and drop them in the ship. The three I use for the guns are wraped up in a piece of foam, the one that controls the pump just sits in the hull in its own little space. Having a box of some sort even if you skotchkote them isnt a bad idea as it will help keep things organized. Also for water proofing I wouldn't reccommend using epoxy or something like that that you cant remove easily on the TD boards since sometimes you might want to change the settings or replace one of the chips if you fry it. If you use a box I've seen people have slots that they just slide them in, keeps them organized and looks pretty nice to boot. Are you going to use Kips solenoids or Clippards, it doesn't matter as far as the TD boards are concerned but im kinda curious.

Let me know if you need some of the opto-couplers when you begin wiring, the little white chip on the boards, I have around 20 of them on hand. One little mistake, and poof. I'm just trying to instill a little confidence here, LOL.

You need one across each solenoid, with the band facing the + voltage. You can see that on Icemans upside down boards. The voltage input to the boards should not be more than +5.5 volts. It does not like anything in excess of +5.5 volts. I think you said you were using a +12 volts right.

Where will you get the +5.5 volts from? It will take a lot of series diodes to drop +12 volts to +5.5 volts. Best way would be to use a +5 volt regulator.
I'm Sorry but I don't much care for Iceman's TD wiring due to the fact that nothing comes apart without having to unsolder it. What I have been doing is going to Radio Shack and buying one of the little perf boards like 1.5 x 1.5 and mounting the componets. diode's, regulator, and the mini deans connectors to it. That way I have a few extra TD boards made up with mini Deans connectors, and if somthing dies, its a real quick swap out, and I'm back to battling. If you use the red connectors they are keyed so you cannot hook them up backwards and fry anything. I will have the PE apart this weekend, I will try to take a picture of the board setup, also makes for a very clean install.
Wait I just remembered I have a pic here of my Kumano, using the little board I made up. You can see the 2 TD boards with the tywraps around them against the port side, and the board I made up is on the bottom. You can see the connectors sticking out of the bottom. Easy to replace a bad board, just cut a couple of tywraps.

Powder are you using 12 volts? For the +5 volt reg I think its a 7805, radio slut has them, even the crappy ones do as its a really common part. Not sure what kind of current draw they can handle.

I thought you would be using a receiver battery and pull the power off of that or use the esc voltage like we discussed. As far as hard wiring the boards, I see your point but I have a spare whole backup redundant system in case of failure. I can pull the entire wiring harness out and be back running in minutes, no troubleshooting, no worries. Still a good idea for those that don't but remember, the more connections, the more chance of forgetting to plug one in or a contact to go bad. (or flipping the plugs around and frying the entire system like I witnessed twice so far) Some don't have the keyed plugs. I like the idea of replacing the individual boards and may have to think more on that later.

Don't the delta boards pull their 6volts off the receiver side??? That would be whatever is coming out of the receiver.(the red white black wires) That is where you would need the voltage regulator/ diode/ whatever. My secondary side has been wired for 12v for the clippards for two years. They are rated for 20v. (the boards I have)

If you talk to Dan, and look at the boards, they say not to exceed +5.5 volts input. If you run off of the ESC, or seperate receiver battery you should have no problem. Thats why I asked about the +12 volts, I remember him saying he was going to use that voltage, but he did not say anything else about secondary power sources.

I just wanted to make sure he did not blow his expensive boards right off the bat.
Hi Ice, your way will work fine also, just allot of the guys will have issues with buying so much stuff for a first build, just thought I would give some options is all.
