With Thanksgiving coming, I just wanted to put a little blurb or two out there of thanks and also present a theory of mine. First of all what am I thankful for. Hmmmmmmm. This a long and amazing list. I think first of all the two most influentional people in my life need big thanks. Curt, we've been doing this hobby for a lifetime and no matter how pissed off we get each other we can hysterically laugh about it two minutes later... til tears stream down.... it's great. You're my anchor buddy. Chris. The big "E". Your home, your life, your family. The safety. I will not be able to thank-you enough. Your hospitality for helping to make CANNATS run so smooth. Thank-you. My life forever changes because of the choice you made. Thanks. Go Leafs go. Gawd did I just say that? The guys (in no particular order).... Paul(Damn good), Chuck(Malaya one or Malaya two?), Jay(Thanks PO), Mack(watch it! hehehe), Pam(You gonna kick ass soon or what?), Joy(I need my shades to look at her ship), Greg(Don't shoot at the school bus!), Steve(You gonna help me patch now?) , Chris(How about you help too?), Norm(Stay well), Brechin(can't wait to see if you make it next summer) and all the others behind the scenes Thank-you. Thanks to Bob and John. Both have recieved and given forgiveness. Why harbor bad blood over stupid toy boats. I also want to take the time to thank Bob for starting a new club which I peek in on every once and a while, it's interesting reading... you guys need more photos and video! Something to work on. John, thanks for the continued work on the two "secret" boats. They will be very busy. Thanks guys. Thanks for letting me have my break. Thanks to Will and Heidi. We know. Nuff said there. Thanks to Kotori, Boomerboy, Gascan, Tuggs, djranier, Greg McFadden, and all the others who are too numerous to remember, for poking your head in and offering advice, puns, funny stories and especially encouragment. Thanks to you all. Hope to meet some or all of you someday. I'm thankful to be alive after the accident. I'm thankful the military didn't kill me. That I know now my limits more than before. I am thankful for the opportunity to go back to school which I start Tuesday. I'm thankful for another Pirates movie!!! Thanks for reading .... now.... onto the other topic for this thread. A theory to present to you all: Should the trend continue, in a few days time, Admiral Paul McKinnon will surpass Forum Admin Justin Scott as the fourth Canadian in the top Five for most posts on the forum. This is quite an accomplishment and shows that we Canucks are as proud, glad, eager to contribute and madly obsessed about the Magnificant Obsession as the Yanks are. We love ya all... without which there would be no Warship Combat. I believe the reason is three fold for these numbers. One, that as Justin himself has pointed out in more than one e-mail to Curt and I, we have been the most active and are a couple of the oldest and continuously active members as are the Atlantic Canadian Clubs. Two, this is our main forum of communication for our Atlantic Canadian groups and as such, we don't call each other long distance or text message/e-mail each other we talk about everything here. Three, we are downright fun. I can't get over the silliness we get into. We want to share everything from a boat build to a sale on safety googles. We get involved in everything from Monty Python (what the heck does that have to do with boats, but damn it is funny- ps- thanks to Carl (a non member) for the absolutely great rendition of holy grail! ) To debates on rulesets and of course our numerous (thanks Curt) boat builds. I think in the conclusion, we are glad for the opportunities the forum gives us. We are thankful to Justin Scott for it's design and patient guiding overseerernessness.... It gives us a chance to stay connected without the high costs of travel or long distance. Thanks to everyone. I don't know why I melded these two together... I guess I just got on one of the Curt Stokes Rants and keep going.... HAVE A GREAT THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!! (in Canada that is, the same sentiment is to be used on November 27th for our friends to the south)There is another way we contribute.... we bring a second thanksgiving around!!!
We give thanks to all of you as well. Can't wait until the "FIRST FAMILY" is on the water. especially after our first sink. Thanks to Craig, Curt and Chris especially, they know why.
Hi Craig, I have to give credit where it's due. It was Jason Clark, not me, who suggested a Washington Treaty Combat Club after NABS divided into two groups. Several members had been thinking and talking about trying Treaty rules (since 2007?) but it was Jason who got us off our backsides to do it. Once people have seen the pros and cons of each style of combat I think many will want to battle in both the Treaty and IRCWCC clubs. We have a lot of experienced people in both clubs and can work together to promote our 'magnificent obsession'. Happy Thanksgiving! Bob
