Okay, I have finally got enough done on the website that I am going to put this up. The rules are:
    1) I have 1/144 plugs built or over 1/2 done for: IJN Hyuga, IJN Agano, Italian Montecuccoli, HMS Leander, & LST. Those will get turned into molds before I get hot on anything voted on in this topic. Think of this as voting on my winter work list.
    2) 3 votes each, you can only vote once for a particular ship. No straw men. Not naming names, but you know who you are :)
    3) CP means protected cruiser :)
    4) If you are on a battling club mailing list, feel free to announce the voting. Club members may vote, all it takes is free registration.

    Without further ado, the candidates:
    USS Omaha (CL)
    USS Arizona (BB)
    HrMs Java (Dutch CL)
    HrMs De Ruyter (Dutch CL)
    HIJMS Takao (CA)
    HIJMS Yubari (CL)
    HMS Invincible (BC)
    HMS King George V (BC)
    SMS Dresden (CP)
    DKM Lutzow (CA)
    DKM Bismarck (BB)
    DKM Pinguin (Commerce Raider/Aux cruiser)
    FS Richelieu (BB)
    FS Joan d'arc (CL)
    FS Dunkerque (BC)
FS Edgar Quinet (CP) (3 screws, 1 rudder, and SIX smokestacks)

Write-ins will be accepted if you have good plans, or a definitive source for good plans, for that ship. Have fun!

Blast you Tug!!! You have given me too many good choices! [:)]

    1. SMS Dresden/Emden
    2. USS Omaha
    3. FS Edgar Quinet (I have always been fond of Armored Cruisers)

Yubari, even though it may be a bit small for 1/144 would be my #4 if I had one. I guess "all of the above" is not a valid option.

What year for Arizona? As built or as sunk?
Is that the WW1 KGV or the WW2?

They are the as-sunk Arizona, and the WW2 KGV

I had written some commentary, but don't want to affect voting :)

How about the BLT (british light transport)? It's a delicious 17-inch snack of a transport that is perfect for a fiberglass hull. I have detailed photos that I can draw up a set of plans from, or I can send them directly to Tugboat.

After that I vote for the Dunkerque and KGV. Those are both great ships for rookies in Big Gun combat.

    My votes are for
    1) KGV (I know someone who would be interested in an accurate hull)
    2) Dunkerque
    3) Lutzow

All three are good Big Gun ships, even though they use 7/32" instead of 1/4" rounds. Richelieu would also be good. There's a guy building a USS Omaha in the WWCC. From what I've seen the rudder will be very difficult to put in at the very tip of the stern. I don't think it's good for beginners, but if you like a challenge, it's the ship for you.

Well Tugboat said I don't need to vote for the BLT, so I'll change that to the Mehoshi Maru. Its a 5200 GRT Japanese oil tanker from 1942. I CAD-modeled a set of beautiful plans for it, basically all you gotta do is cut and assemble.

    Here's some pictures:

Nice looking freighter! I suspect that the BLT will also work well as the JLT-maru, the USS LT, etc :) Mehosi Maru would make a more substantial meal in the high-low mix.

Java (3 shafts and single rudder....tasty maneuverability)

Omaha (4 stacks, 35 knots...what's not to like?)

    De Ruyter (coolest looking lightcruiser...ever)

That would be excellent. Let me know what the shipping costs are when you're ready.

Tugboat, can you email me your address? That way I can see about the shipping costs. We should chat this weekend if you are around.
