link above is the printer I jumped on when it appeared.

Possibly late Nov, more likely december delivery time at this point.

I got the Single head, large build deck 12" x 12" x 13.7" print area. non heated (heated wasn't an option at the time, but upgrades are too be offered once production starts)

ships fully assembled and tested, auto calibrates.

never owned a printer before, but everything I could compare it too was like $1200-1500 for a KIT ... this was under $300US via kickstarter (before shipping, I'm guessing shipping will hit me for around $100)

so oh thee with existing printers and more experience hardware wise.... whatcha think?

It never ceases to amaze me on the seemingly unlimited ways people have found to mount three stepper motors in a frame.

I'll be amazed if you get a working printer this year out of that kickstarter. From the comments it looks like they had to redesign some part of it and don't even have a working printer right now, and they don't seem to have much of a valid production timeline other than a bunch of hopes. Also worrisome is that they seem to be cutting features - I saw comments about them dropping WiFi, dropping their original use of e3d hotends in some of the recent posts.

As far as the printer itself goes.. the system they've developed for the X-arm and carriage, and the bed's Y axis & carriage look insufficient from flipping through their photos.

If/when I get a printer, Delta all the way. It's scales up if desired.

I wonder what he's doing for an extruder and filament?

I really hope that the Genesis printer guys come through for you. A lot of Kickstarter/IndieGoGo 3D printers don't wind up delivering.

they are coming along ... they had a fairly major 2 month setback a few months ago (one of the project lead designers or something was deathly in hospital sick) ....

the wifi drop seems to be a 'for now' thing and theres talk of them sending out the wifi update later. the wifi for me was a bonus not a selling feature.

the size for price, and upgradeability claims were the selling point for me, however all I'm really looking at would be the heated bed upgrade and getting a piece of the boro glass for it. They upgraded the sensor in the print head for the addition of the glass

Honestly, the key selling features for one's first 3D printer should be ease of assembly and number of printers in service (in use). A new design with a very small user base is not a good thing.

that was another selling point for me at that moment... no assembly... it comes assembled, tested, and auto calibrates .... i'm not so naïve to think I wont have to mess with it ... but less messing to start for the price point, even with the wait/delays works for me ... I'll probably look back into a Prusa. I was before, then this popped up.

I really hope that when you get it, it's flawless. I do not have great hopes for that being true, but I hope it's really, really good, and causes no headaches.

I hope so too... but as I said I'm not that naïve ... nor am I that uncapable ... it just happened to pop up when I was looking around at printers... I'm not impatient or anxious... yet hahah

Just read through the comments and honestly, I wouldn't have touched this project with a ten foot pole. The pricing is the biggest giveaway. The single nozzle version is listed at $249 assembled? Printrbots Simple model (similar printer) lists at $599. Also hiding the updates from non-backers is a bit cheesy IMO.

Here's some of those hidden updates. I see a lot of marketing doublespeak in there. http://digi-fab.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=27

Like Tuggy said, I hope they deliver a flawless product.

It's not a question of your capability :) It's that they think they're making an MBT-70, for the price of a jeep (more features than most fully-developed printers have, for a price about half of the cost of those printers). With a lot of modularity. This does not bode well for it being flawless nor even being functional soon. I'd try to get my money back.

I would get your money back and go get a prusa kit or a mini kossel. I believe that what you get for your money will be much better vs what this kickstarter may eventually deliver.

Time will tell. I'll probably end up ordering a second printer anyways. long term planning is to do prototyping as my own business along with the whole engineering forced career switch.

I'm also within a few other hobbies that people have expressed interest in me creating things for em. So basically mixing hobby and business

Either way even getting my money back from the kickstarter I won't be in a position to get what I 'need'. So at this point I'm not 'missing' any money.

they've got a working twin head, large bed printer as of now. I doubt I'll see it this year, but I really wasn't die hard set on them staying on their delivery date (it's kick starter). Time will tell

I'm okay with that, I was hoping to see it before Xmas to make some presents and work on stuff, but its looking like I'm not getting any portion of my weekend back schedule wise at work till around Xmas anyways. Ofcourse looking for diff job to do this whole career change thing.... back and forth through school for next few years.... weeeeeee

thank you :D ... I'll probably be picking up a Prusa I3 first quarter of next year anyways.

I've always wanted to Do Mechanical Engineering, the last few years of injury, battling with workers comp, and forced retirement from Auto Tech/Fabricator was just the forcefull kick in the ass to finally do it. The school schedule is just a royal pain in the arse, they JUST changed their intake scheduling to 1 intake a year instead of the constant rotating they were doing up till this year.... sooooo ... wait till sept 2016 for a 6 month pre course, to wait till sept 2017 for the 2 year engineering technologist (junior eng basically).

I am however as of now a certified Engineering Graphics Tech. so any of the 3d work I do if successful I intend to share the files with the group :D
