Okay I’m getting ready for my first time shipping out. while pulling all the camping supplies together that will be in my trunk with my two ships and I realized its not going to the local pond. I need to protect them on the long drive any ideas I started wit ha simple box and wondered what ells is out there before I finish. thanks guys
good luck monk. have a good time.cant go this time. i hope we meet at nats some day and take the atm card it will fix all
when you get to nats look for Ty Supancic and get me some photos of his ship going down lol so i can show him what i will do to him
Wait a minuet this is exactly what I have been talking about what NATS you talking about I will be in NY for IRCWCC ?
Monk, I seen a picture somewhere of a "box" that someone built to protect his boat. Then he added some wheels to one end (looked like possibly from a pushmower), and a handle on the other to help get it from the truck to the pond. I thought it was cool, especially since I'm building a Missouri, which is big enough to be a pain to carry if the parking provisions are far away from the pond. []
LOL Cannon that is exactly what i am building has a handle from a suit case that collapse into itself on other end this is a prototype for my future Iowa class []
Monk I have seen some folks just re-inforce the cardboard box that they received the hull in. Mainly to protect just the sides of the hull. Others have gone as far as building a wooden box tall enough to protect the hull, and part of the super-structure. If you make something out of wood, then it doesn't have to be very thick. Paneling or something like that will be fine, unless you plan to stack stuff on top of it, or around it. Mikey
I’m going with wood as I built the hull my self so no boxing as well as it is going in my trunk of my car with a weeks worth of camping equipment for 2 [:0]
Here it is the outside anyways notice the pull out handle robed from a children’s suitcase and small wheels on bottom makes me a one man band []
You can get all the hardware to build a nice shipping case, including inlet rolling wheels and collapsing handles, latches, extruded edges, laminated sides, etc. from TransContinental Hardware, at www.tchweb.com, I believe. Cheers,
