Hello this is my first time on this website and I was thinking about building a liberty ship because it seems the easiest ship to build. Also this will be the first ship that I build. I have no clue how to start and I need help. Thanks for your help.

Both though I am not sure where the battles are around me, but I will cross that bridge when I come to it.

I hope that you are active with a local club.
The thickness of the ribs depends on the size of your windows.
Check with your club's rule set for the spacing and thickness of ribs.
As for the keel, that does not matter much. Whatever you think is best, or whatever thickness of wood you happen to have on hand.
An important item would be a block to insure that each rib is perpendicular to the keel and properly spaced.

You're in the perfect spot. There are IRCWCC guys in every direction if you live at the PA/MD border.
Check out the IRCWCC yahoo group, say hi, and keep eyes open for when everyone meets up again to build boats. Might learn some useful stuff, I know that as a rookie myself I have picked up a lot of great info from seeing other people's boats in various stages of construction.
