Just wondering if there would be any interest in members from all the formats, Treaty, IRCWCC, MWC and Big Gun getting together some weekend to tour the USS New Jersey and the USS Olympia?
    Thanks

    If this works,
I will be inclined to set up a tour of the Pentagon.

    Hey Knight,
I'm not sure when this would be. I floated it out there to see if there was any interest. So far I've heard from 3 people. If there is enough interest I will contact the two ships and see what the rates are for the tours and go from there.
    Thanks for your interest.

me too! On the other hand, I get to see the USS Iowa every time I drive to and from a battle, so I guess it's not too bad for me...

I'll attend. I've been meaning to get up to see the Jersey and Olympia for quite some time now. When I was young, I got to see the Missouri every day (mothballed in Bremerton back in the 80s), and have seen the Jersey from a distance in Bremerton, but never actually been aboard her.

One of the items on my bucket list is to tread on all of the Iowa's (Class that is)
So far I have Big Mo, Kentucky and Wisconsin. Just need NJ and the Iowa to be complete.

    By the way.
A tour of the USS North Carolina is well worth the trip!
It is a two hour tour!

How did you get on Kentucky? That might be an interesting story.

LOL!!! I was wondering if anyone would take the bait on that comment!
The bow on the USS Wisconsin was dammaged in a collision, and removed.
BB-65, USS Kentucky was about 75% complete. In fact the Kentucky's hull was launch to make room for other ship construction.
The bow of the Kentucky was removed and attached to the Wisconsin. At that point where the Kentucky's bow is attached to the Wisconsin there is a sign letting you know that you are now on the bow of BB-65.
I also understand that it is this union of the the Wisconsin and Kentucky that made the USS Wisconsin the longest battleship afloat. Prior to the replacement of the bow, that distinction was held by the USS New Jersey.

Ah, ok. I was aware of the Kentucky's bow being grafted onto the Wisky, but thought you might have been on the actual Kentucky at one time. I knew a guy who had helped scrap the Guam, and had some keepsakes from it, and figured you might have a similar story.
