    Hi All
I have started my USS Wasp CV7 , building it for treaty. I have most ot the ribs in , flight subdeck and bow and stern need shaped. It is a very interesting hull. Would like to hear from others who have built carrier and what are some good ideas and mistakes.

I am about to build the same ship, although it will be the Boxer CV21. I would like to see some pictures of what you have done and see if you have any recommendations for what you have ran into. This will be my first build and am excited to build it.

You're thinking of Wasp CV-18. CV-18 is Essex class, Buddy's CV-7 is a one off Wasp class built using extra tonnage left over in the Washington treaty.

Ahh, I see. I am still interested in seeing some build pictures of it, it looks like it has some of the same features that mine will and it would be nice to see how they were implemented on the ship.

I found it very handy to have the flight deck and hanger come off at the main deck level. That way I didn't have to reach way in to work on something inside the ship. As a side benefit, the hanger part can be used as a float when the ship sinks.

    Guys,
She was built on a reduced-size version of the Yorktown-class hull.

    Hey Buddy!
Do you have any photos of the build???? and How is she doing?

That's how I am planning to do my USS Belleau Wood. I've got a main deck level deck, which I cut the center out of to reduce the top weight. I've got a hangar deck out of foam that will be placed on that deck and armored. The flight deck will be permanently secured to the hangar, so there will be one combo flight deck/hangar deck assembly for superstructure.

What I haven't decided is how I want to secure the hangar deck to the hull while the ship is on the water.

Right now work has been crazy and have not had time to get more done. Any way I have been building the standard way , she is up side down with teh main flight deck on the build board and most of the ribs attached . I have been working on the recessed boat storeage areas in the side almost at the stern, along with the gun placements up by the bow that are almost wing casemates.I have found that being the hull is not symetrical not can throw you off by sight.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the Wasp. I've always had a bit of a soft spot for her, and she's IMHO, the coolest looking carrier. My favorite though, is the Yorktown. I just love the epic fight she put up at Midway.
