Boomer are you ever planning to use a big ship go with a tried a true digital 6 channel from futaba or spectrum, they may cost more but they are a better radio, they also have multi model memory. The futaba has a 6 model memory and the spectrum has a 10 model memory. One radio for all your boats.

As a radio for a secondary model or convoy ship? I would say grab one. You can also run the larger ships around on them.

beware of the vex. It needs a new receiver and crystal to make it work. The receiver that comes with it is useless if it is the one in the robotics kit. The good news is that the range is really good and it will work with both futaba and airtronics cystals and receivers. The ones i got were $12.00 at princess auto and i am still using one to Roberts. So as far as the radio - yes, but if you don't have the extra gear laying around then no
