Here's another project coming off the shelf. This green beauty was loaned to me several years ago to refurb and according to MAG folklore, is the original Bacon Maker. She got a new deck, subdeck, pump, and guns when I first worked on it. For the second run through my shop, she’ll be getting updated/corrected electronics and a new foam superstructure.
TTSS (Tyng Technologies Sea Systems) will have a fleet on the water in 2014. Allies bend over and kiss your balsa good bye!
    :p

Excellent. Looking forward to that. I'll be working on 2 VUs after the NC is completed so this will be helpful.

Found some pics from my first rebuild of this boat. Thought others might find them interesting. This hull was shot to hell (literally) and needed a bit of work to make sound again. Basically, I cut the top 3/8" off and melded in a new subdeck and reinforced the ribs with backers. The deck is one piece cut from some countertop laminate and reinforced with balsa on the back.. The guns are my own build and an experiment in a hopefully hard and fast shooting design.

The originial hull was traced onto paper and that was then scanned into the computer. That file was imported into Coreldraw as a template in designing the new subdeck. The VU overhead image was pulled of the internet and used as a guide in the casemate design.

Got some work done on the VU this past week.

    The old props

New (old-stock) Swampy props I had lying around fit nicely (with pointy ends cutoff).

Rudders get some bling and I redid the drag disks.

I like the way you put on your drag discs. Do you think you might want to put something like Loctite thread locking fluid on the nut to keep it from coming loose?

It might get some blue loctite when all's done and said.

Boat looks great, can't wait to see it as it progresses. My only objection is covered in my response in the Just Schillin' thread.

Awesome!!! One of my favorite ships. Though, I'm not the biggest fan of the fishtail style rudder but I will definitely be following your progress. Good luck!
