I'am new to r/c warship combat, But i'am not new to r/c controls. I have build airplanes. So I would like to try my hands at warships, you can only do so more with planes. I would like to build a Destroyer in honor of my Grandfather-in-law.

I'm sure an admin will help before long. Here's a place to get started since a whole bunch of things just changed but some things are nationally recognized now. RC Warship Clubs

I think that page is horribly out of date and woefully incomplete. Iowa is toward @Bob H's area, he may know if there is an active group there. I think there are some folk in the Iowa area, but I'm not 100% on that or their status.

Ya, I noticed off the bat a few are missing but I thought the page would try to help him a little. Really, I guess the forum is going to have more info. Glad you chimed in!

No one is right next to you. That's pretty typical for this hobby. We have:
    JP & Company in Chicago
Steve is just across the border from you in Indiana
Lars & Dan in Cedar Rapids
Kevin, Kevin & Rick in the St Louis/Farmington area.
    Tom & Rick in KC
Then there is the MN/WI group of 15 or so people.
There is a battle Memorial Day Weekend in Farmington, MO. If you can make it that is a great way to get started. If you don't have a ship just let us know and we'll make sure a spare is on hand for you to use.
If you really want to go crazy there is a battle in New Orleans area at the end of March.

Most of them don't check out this site. If you want their e-mails let me know with a PM.

Nick, I think you would right, 1/144 is not a good scale to start with for me. 1/96 is too big right now. Is there a scale in between them that would work better.

Big gun is 1/144 as well. Queens Own is 1/72 and battlestations is 1/96.

You can build a destroyer in 144, its just not easy and not suggested as a first build.
