Hi, i am wonder ing were to start. I have an extremely limeted budget( you can't get a job at 12 years old) and have servos, reciver and transmitter. I want to bould something simple fast and cheap with one or two guns. I was wondering if you guys could just give me a hand and some links. Thanks
Have a look at the "members" drop down menu for ship plans, find one you like and head over to www.strikemodels.com to see if they have a hull that matches. If not, pick a hull you like or build yourself a wooden hull... I would suggest reading a few build threads first, though...
Make a trip over to http://ontarioattackforce.multiply.com/ It is the home page for the Ontario Attack Force, which is an IRCWCC affiliated "fastgun" club in Southern Ontario. One of our members has a few semi complete ships for sale. A Cruiser would probably best fit the bill of being a "budget" ship, however you are probably looking in the neighbourhood of $600-$700 for a fully running ship. But fear not! There are always extra ships at our battles during the summer that you can use until you can afford one of your own. Since you are only 12, we ask that you bring a parent along so they are aware of what you are getting into. Our battle sites are located in Milton & Uxbridge.
I would suggest you build to the sane standard as the people nearest you, you dont want to build a boat hair to find the nearest club that plays the same ruleset is 2-3 states away.
I would suggest buying a hull from Strikemodels.com rather than building it yourself, but if you need to build it yourself, rcengr does some awesome kits which contain everything you need other than the hull skin.
Here is Tugboat's thread on how to build a Edgar Quinet (A french Cruiser): http://www.rcnavalcombat.com/Forum/tabid/58/aff/566/aft/441667/afv/topic/afnp/469693/Default.aspx Building from scratch definitely isn't the easiest way to start out though. You may want to consider Mark Jenks (RCENGR) Baltimore cruiser kit shown here: http://www.jenkse.us/rcengr/index_files/Page896.htm Don't forget to visit http://ontarioattackforce.multiply.com and introduce yourself.
