So, I and my father happen to be getting into this. I've been searching on Strike Models, and I ask, Which ship should I start with? I and my father have been in the hobby type line of stuff since I was 3. Anyhow, any idea's? Thanks guys. Oh, I didn't want to get a used one, I would like to build my own, I've built many different kinds of models [i. e. R/C Trucks, Rockets, Planes, 1 boat, and several tanks]. So, what should I start on? I thought maybe Northampton, or Lutzow, possibley the Brooklyn....Any idea's? Thanks a lot.

    Hey Gary,
Get in touch with battleshipbud (Buddy Friend) here on the site. He has a Cleveland kit that has most of the subassemblies built and all the windows cut in the hull that he's trying to sell. If you have any issues contact me by my personal email and I'll help you get in touch with him if you're interested.

Of the stuff from the strike models page, Lutzow is probably the easiest build. The model will have more beam, more internal room, roomier turrets with which to work and slightly more firepower. They're also slower, which could be important depending on your battle style.

    Welcome!

Rcengr sells wonderful lasercut wooden boat hull kits and the prices are quite reasonable. So far he has a Bogue class escort carrier, a Baltimore class cruiser, and a Henri IV French predreadnaught. The Baltimore thread is in the For Sale section, the Bogue is in the Warship Build section, and the predread is in the Ship Comparison section. All great kits and high quality.
