    what type of wood should i use for y deck and ribs?

    baltic birch [plywood] is the commonly suggested favorite, but you can use most any plywood of correct thickness. More plys are generally better.

    I go with plywood. Using wood planks you will get bowing of the wood over time, with the wetting, heating, and cooling that the boats get.
