Finally got out today after feeling sick this morning, to drive Roma and test the new Receivor, Throttle Servo and Tx. Tested Yamato today too. I was at the Pond from 11 am and finished at 4;30 PM.Roma ran with no more glitches. The ship ran her combat speed perfectly and was graceful in the water. The only hiccup was the stbd prop spun off. I didn't bring a spare with me..doh! Yamato had a great run but some issues were addressed pond side. First the pick up tube hose inside the hull popped off the tube and flooding commencend when the prop was turned on. That was corrected. After several hrs of running Yamato struck a submerged object in the middle of the pond. The ship was stopped hard nearly lifting the stern. After it cleared whatever it hit there was no rudder control.I was able to back the model in to shore. The main rudder was twisted up against the stern underside and the stbd prop was bent. Both drag discs were sheared off. I repaired the rudder pondside and ran without the drag props. Rebent the stbd prop. Went back in to finsih my day of sailing. Overall a great beautiful day. I had many many onlookers stop by to chat. One lady took a pic of me and said was posting it in Facebook along with the models. I ran the Roma for a bunch of preschoolers who politly applauded when I floated the Roma and then engaged the motors to drive it around. Very successful day. I keep thinking of the comments that the Roma was mistaken for the TITANIC.
Finally! I got 2 beautiful days for sailing and testing the Cannons on Yamato and Roma. The last run I forgot to bring BBs! Doh!Anyway I had excellent performance runs from both ships this time. No log hitting or props spinning off. Yaayy! Do RC combat ships make good "chick"magnets?? Well I been getting a lot of attention from female joggers who stop by and check out the ships.Seems to be picking up. Maybe this will be the next thing to E harmony..but the GF will kill me for it. Anyways...... I am getting interest from passerbys about teh ships and I had 2 very interested parties in the hobby so far. One of them a RC Monster Truck Nitro driver whose 700.00 Truck was smashed to smiterens when it went out of control and hit a pole. HE was inquiring if the parts coudl be replaced. Soooo I pitched him the hobby gave hiim the links to this forum and suppliers and hopefully I will finally have another battler to battle against . I hope to get out there soon with all 3 ships Yamato ,Roma and Bismarck. Seems the more I bring out the more people gather.
Hey Curt, good news about the 'kids'. Afriend of mine, who wants into the hobby and has bought a radio already is going to be in St. John's soon. Can you send me a map of where the pond is? If you are available while he is there, I'll let you know when, I bet he' ld love to come out for a bit. Just a thought and two moving boats are better than one!! J
Hey Jay is your friend in town yet? I will be at Mundy Pond. Very easy to spot on the map of the city. Just Google Earth it. Yea be nice to have 2 of these boats moving at the same time. I 'm trying to get Bismarck out there too so that I can have all 3 of the AXIS bad asses out there at the one time. It reminds me of the old SWAMPWORKS T-shirt that had the silouettes of the 3 imposed over thier Country Flags on the shirt. It was a cool shirt to wear and the Allies had one too with a IOWA, kgv, and the Richelie

Ok,, I should have Bismarck ready by then. Least he will see all 3 ships in operation and he can helm one of them. I will be on Vacation at the end of this mth.
Hey Curt, can you send me your phone number so I can give it to Terry. He will be in town on the 4th of Aug, not too sure for how long. I talked to him today and he would love to get out, see boats and maybe even drive one. Thanks, Jay
I finsihed rebuilidng the stuffing box and installed the drive shaft, attached the prop, attached the universal joint and tested the drive motor. It worked with very little binding. The universal socket is a littel off center but it's not binding or causing vibration. Now I need to attach the Capacitors and screens over the motor openings so that bbs and debris don't get inside the motor can.
