I've got the 2.4 Futaba and love it. Everything I have read about it indicates it's a superior radio to the Spektrum.

Now that's not to say the Spektrum is bad, just that the Futaba is better.

My son tried out the Futaba in combat at NABGO. Bottom line, worrked fine as expected. No glitches until a battery died at the end.

    Receivers are frightfully expensive, though.

I am also looking into the Assan system. TX module is under $90 and some of the RX's are under $40, with a nice variety. I do not have one yet to battle test, but have been conversing with their technical and sales people about our specific needs and methods of waterproofing. If anything comes of it I will, of course pass it on.

The Sombra SS system (900 mHz, not 2.4G) is being tested in subs, and may be more what you are looking for when it becomes available, if you want some water penetration. Check the Sombraqlabs web site for more info and availability.

    Cheers,
