We tried something a little different this year at Cargo is King. The Altmark, as Axis was paired with Jeremiah O'Brien and John Brown (two libs) as Allied, but in the same convoy, being protected by USS Missouri as generic Escort and raided by Indianapolis and Lutzow as generic Raiders, reserving the main battle flotilla intact for the engagement on Saturday.

After an hour or so, all of the convoys had completed 11 cargo runs and were tied up, score-wise, when Mo went dead in the water. He "offered his chin" to the raiders, who decided it would not be sporting enough to finish off a dead ship, and instead called a cease fire to let him go out in the Jon-boat to see if he could get her up and going again for more sparring and more fun. Unfortunately, due to an equipment glitch, the Jon-boat (with the captain of the Mo at the helm) ram-sank the Mo and then lost propulsion itself and needed rescue (he had, unfortunately left port without oars, which were still in the truck at the shipyard area). A rough day for the captain of the Mo. Oops. Rescue was, indeed, effected in time for everyone to retire home and freshen up for the Chicken Fried Chicken and Bread Pudding. But the result was a tie between Axis and Allies for Cargo is King. And, so far, for "Most Cargo Delivered."

Richelieu II did arrive in port, finally, after travelling through Utah, of all places.....

    Cheers,
