While looking up wood-working projects on YouTube I came across a video for building your own CNC Router for $900. The guy has his own DIY website with free plans as well as the videos for building it and aligning it. His web-site is here: https://www.diybuilds.ca/shop-project-plans.html. His site also has a cost breakdown with product links and a wiring diagram for this. If I remember right, his X by Y working area is 4' x 4', with a 6" Z-axis. Would be a sweet way to roll your own wooden hulls, or maybe 'carve' your SS or turret molds. I hope to build one someday, but right now I don't have the free space in my garage for it. The base is 5' x 5', with extra clearance needed for the mechanics/gantry...
That dude does a good job of documenting his builds. My meager attempt at a CNC router has picked up pace in the last couple of months.
