Since I'm having no luck posting a picture into the photo gallery, I'll stick one here. :)

LOL Bob, I was thinking it'd be another venue for Region 3 battles :) A SC Nats would be fine, too :)

Why did you decide to have B turret pointed like it is?

I'm getting the two mike-frog-people confused :) Maybe if I build a frog I'll be able to tell them apart!

The pond is next door to our local hobby shop. It's a small figure 8 shaped pond, perhaps only 40' across and 120' long. Very shallow. The picture was taken with no zoom and me laying on the bank. You can see how close the opposite bank is in the picture.
The pond may work for a small battle. It'll be tight for manuvering at one end, but opens up pretty good in the far side. I'll take another look at it tomorrow.
There is an absolutely gorgeous lake just north of Charleston that has beautiful green grass banks, huge battle area, great scenery, and just blows you away at how pretty it is. The only real problem is no electricity (solvable with a generator) and the lake is too deep in most places to easily recover a ship.
I'll keep looking for a place if the small pond doesn't pan out. There is this park halfway between Charleston and Beaufort that might be promising.

On the B turret question...I'm assuming you are asking about the second turret from the bow? The French had this thing with using numbers instead of letters for identifying turrets. heh. Anyway, the second turret is set at 90 degrees to the ship. it may look like it is angled back in the picture, but it isn't. :)
The #1 turret (frontmost) is angled slightly forward, around 70 - 80 degrees, as a compromise between a full side mount and a forward angled cannon. It just seems to work well that way. :)

On this weekends battle, I don't think the Lutzow will be ready to battle on Friday. But, it may hit the water one way or the other on Saturday sans a nice superstructure.

It's from the same French plans. All I did was clean them up before posting.

    It turns very well :)

It only has one rudder sized to MWCI rudder specs for ships over 700' original length. It wasn't built from Tug's plans but a set of Geoff plans. The Geoff plans worked, but when I build another (and I will) it'll be off Tug's plans instead.

The rudder is gear driven from a set of old rc car gears ... works great. The ship is propelled by two 1.75" dia by 25 pitch props on the inner shafts. The outer shafts are dummy shafts and not powered. The inner shafts are each driven by a 550 motor attached to a 2.5 to 1 gearbox. Power is 6 volts. :)

On the B turret (aka #2 turret by French nomenclature), Specialist is probably commenting on the sideways angle pointing nearly straight out from the side of the ship. That angle works well for side to side slugging if you can get the ship positioned that way. Since the photo, both front turret angles have been increased to point more forward so I can fire on another ship while approching from the bow yet still keep the side to side slugging capability.

It's a unique ship, probably the only active Richelieu in the MWCI at the moment. It's fun to play with. It'll be my main ship until the urge to be super competative strikes. Heh.

Very nice, both the ship and the pond.
