I am an engineer, and as such I like to organize the crap out of everything.

So my question is, did I do it again? Are there just too many forums?

Probably better for now to have "too many" than to have people trying to cram everything imaginable into just a few. Those that haven't been used yet may, given more time.

Incidentally, good job of reminding people in other forums that this one is here. Keep after it - it may take awhile to build a "community".

It is somewhat difficult to tell which topics have new posts in them when I'm just taking a brief glance in. Is the forum supposed to give some indication as to whether or not there is a new post in a topic since last you've visited? If it is, either its not working for me or I'm just blind, but if it isn't then that'd sure be a nice feature :)

Ok, the site categories stay as they are; at least for now.

Too many. *slap* Nope it's good. Browsing through the different topics is great. I think you have most of the bases covered here.
