Worked on Yamato this evening. Sanded the repaired panels and applied a coat of paint over the starboard side of the hull both above and below the waterline. I repainted the main deck . Hopefully it will just need minor touch up paint tomorrow evening. I hope to have Yamato back on the water this weekend.

More work on Yamato this evening. Finished painting the repaired starboard side.Just need to reapply the waterline tape, quarter and fore deck repainted, jut touch up the details on the quarterdeck, repainted the main turrets and the 25mm AAA enclosures. This evening just need to finish the work and repaint the main deck of the center hatch and Yamato should be ready for weekend sailing. The forecast is looking promising finally.

Yamato is back home. Just minor touch ups on that beast. I cleaned up the shipyard and have NC and Prinz Eugen ready for building.

Glad you like it and feel free to use it for guidance. I ultra blinged the rigging last night and have it completed finally. I have the deck reels cut out and ready to attach to the deck then paint them up. From there it's the horn for the bridge and the missing deck bits. My main build on this is the hangar doors particularly framing out the main hangar face door. I also readjusted the rear mast line for the mast flag to make it the flag sit more perpendicular which looks better now. I still have to paint the doors and the AA director towers back aft have these little oval doors that I need to make and attach.

FINALLY!!!! We had nice weather ( Prayers do work!) . Packed up the car , the missus and the dog with cooking gear , chairs cameras you name it we brought it all in a small Hyundai accent, while my Rc buddy brought his large pickup truck carrying a 3 ft Pt 109 and a 4 ft Deep Vee Hydro I think it is, with him and support equipment in the truck. He was amazed how we managed to pack up the car with all the equipment so after the day he stuck around to watch us load it up again.
Bismarck was still a little stern heavy for the first half of the run and the pump was choking on dust and debris from the refit work but it later purged itself and worked fine.
I had a small amount of co2 left in the 20oz tank so the model was listing slightly to port when stopped but righted itself when in moving. The rudders would stick when over turned and Bis would simulate being struck in the rudduer by swordfish torpedoe. I could correct though by stopping as the thrust from the large prop was strong enough to unjam them. I ran the model for about 2.5 hours on just 2 6v 12amp tied for 6v 24 amp. The model was weaing the smaller drag discs and it didn't make any slurping sounds but they could't slow the model down on fresh batteries. Only after an Hour of hard running did the model approach reasonable speeds and then down to scale speed.
It ran quitely and frankly looked fantastic .

I had an issue with a very excitable Labrador Retriever that made sudden course corrections to pursue Bismarck and bring it back as a nice fancy trophy . It was relentless for about 40 minutes and I had to be extra wary of it's presence. Bis had to rescure PT 109 as it went dead after opening up full speed for a few minutes.

I got great pics of it , and tried out the new camcorder and got video of it sailing and firing it's cannons. Then I mounted the GO PRO camera atop the forward range finder which gave a excellent view of the open bridge and wings, Armored station all the way from B turret to the tip of the bow, perfect as if your looking through the bridge windows. I later mounted the camera facing the after behind C turret overlooking both C and D Turret .

The cannons all worked very well. No jams and fired well despite the low amount of gas the Co2 tank was carrying.

So just tweak the rudder and B turret cannons, remove the 3lb weight in the stern to level it out and move the batteries slighty more towards the center line of the hull.

I was trying to post pics last night but the Computer crashed. I will make a small movie for Youtube but need more practice with the camera. Will post the vids later once completed and post the pics.

Found my computer issue. I have no hard drive space left. So I will have to upload my pictures off the computer on to DVDS and clear up space. I managed to get alook at the pics and well I can't wait to post them.

Computer is still messed up. Meanwhile I am trying to remove the 3lb weight in the stern because I think it no longer needs it. The weights have changed with the new superstructure aboard so I hope to have the model trimmed without the 3 lb weight that's been in the boat since day 1. Problem is trying to remove it as it is stuck extremely well in the stern.

I'm pretty sure that 3lbs in the stern of the computer has nothing to do with your computer problem :)

LOL your right Tug, though it would certaintly be useful to use the 3lb weight and bash my computer with it. Speaking of the weight , I secure it so well it's too much trouble to remove. So I decided to load Bis up and weigh it to see if it is overweight. It weighed in fully loaded at 39.2 lbs. That is lighter than the 36 lbs it was at Nats 2010. The trim is off so I will add a small weight in the bow to level it. So the weight overall is not the issue. The model is sitting at it's regulation weight. The ballast for the starboard side is easy to correct, just fill my co2 bottle.

I will probably switch out the prop and use my smaller 5 blade 35 pitch. The 2.5 in 5 blade 25 pitch is fantastic but I need an ESC to slow Bis down.

Well it's been a long journey of this edition of BIsmarck's refit . Hastily refitted internally for 2010 nats , coming back and laying up for the remainder of the 2011 till the fall of 2011 then refitting the exterior of the model in 2012.
Thanks for your support people and hope it inspires to keep the beater and get it fixed up.

Curt i love the pictures, you have done a remarkable job on the details and i love how the deck turned out looks like and actual ship deck with the way the shimmed pieces together because its a massive warship. by any chance do you edit your pictures because they look great and you have a friend take them don't you? Well Im still taking some details off of you and putting it on my ship. i want to let you know again that your ship has inspired my passion for building and brought me to this amazing hobby and for that i thank you, i look forward to seeing some more of your great master pieces.

    Goodluck

Thanks Dave. I will post more pics of Bis in very rough water. I need to get an ESC to slow her down. She's not great for rough water as the forward hatch is not the tightest fitting and my pump is not working the best, not compared to the Mo's. I may have a less than powerful motor installed so I will swap it out . The pump was not keeping up with the volumes of water that was crashing over the deck and quarterdeck. Missouri on the other hand was sailing beautifully and the pump was working perfectly. I have pics of the model plunging the entire forward deck under waves and the bow stem lifing clear of the water. Bismarck looked like it took a few torpedoes. I figure Bis is suited to mild chop and calm water along with Roma , and Yamato and Missouri are suited for the Rough water.
