It's the high density form made by Greg McFadden. It's much more dense than the foam from strike but it is heavier because of it. It was designed to be BB proof and it is. No termite armor requried. Greg did a fantastic job molding it accuratley and I have him to thank for that as it is allowing me to get a more precise look and it matches up exactly to the detailed plans I have so very big Kudos to Greg for that. It makes my work easier.

I think it was even more than that. One thing about the carpet tacks the heads are not perfectly round. You can use other items to simulate portholes or just use a sharpe, thick and dot them in. You can use those brass tubes that the servo screws insert through. The brass servo tubes sit through the rubber gromet that the servo secures too. You can use those as well.
The superstructure in the build thread was repainted a little in some areas but I didn't repair the damage at that time going to Nats. I figured it was going to receive the worst damage yet so I left the damaged areas as is including imbedded bbs from years past of battling.
You'll never run out of things to find to detail on a ship so enjoy.

WOW Curt, that is going to to be absolutely gorgeous when it is finished!!!!!
    Can't wait to see it.
Now I understand why Craig was talking so much about wanting to have the North Carolina, his showboat, as a Curt boat,
    WOW.

Thanks Jay. Yeah when I start Craig's it's going to be hard to conserve and not add anything too extra too it. I want it to ship in one piece and not have what happened to bb26's PE. That was a crying shame what happened to it.

Any way I completed the port side rails , all I had time to do, so I took some side by sides with the old superstructure and placed the new one on Bismarck to try it out and see how it fits and looks.

I have a seperate container of bits from the old that can be reused on the new structure. They need to be cleaned up first though. I still have some fit issues with the new main center hatch though so I may have to make some more mods there. I will have to weigh the superstructure and the old to see the difference and how it will impact the ballast and trim on the hull once it's on board.

sorry curt it took me a wile to respond, the cranes are all brass and the catapult is actually a plastic i beam found in the train department of a hobby store. the gray is a walmart $1 gray can and the black i chose gloss to make it stick out an that is Testors Gl. Black enamel

Walmart ...hmmm I will have to check for that. I purchased German Grey and it looks dark enough for it. Hopefully it will be close enough. The platic I beam I used before on Bis but my local hobby store doesn't carry it so I am trying to think of an alternative. The Cranes I an not certain how I am going to make the prong structure. The base I got covered.

Good news I received my New Bismarck Superstructure ( which will be going aboard Tirpitz)All the parts arrived for the superstructure. The quality is much better than the original and the cuts are far better. Finally it has a bridge made for it too. Also new material to try out that came iwth it which is like a styrene but same material used for plastic soda bottles. The cuts for the platforms and levels are excellent . This stuff is supposed to be more durable than styrene. It comes clear . I sub assembled the new structure last night to check it out and I am very pleased .
Hope to get at Bis this evening and begin the mast work.
The only bummer LCM's didn't arrive. But I contacted Stephen and he replied to let me know he will be sending them out.
The weather is beginning to improve around here and the poinds and lakes have opened up so I am itching to push this build to completion.
