Skip the flak balloon go for a Zeppelin! IIRC they flew under the Navy's command.

Some Zeppelins flew scouting missions for the Navy. There was a famous carrier raid on Tondern, one of the Zeppelin bases, the first carrier raid in history I think. I thought most balloons of the Great War were Observation Balloons with a manned observation basket, as opposed to deterring low-flying aircraft like the unmanned Barrage Balloons seen in WW2 at D-day.

Could you post a map to the battle site? Before thursday please as I am going to Tuscaloosa on the way over and will be away from the printer.

Isn't Tuscaloosa one of the other ranches near the Ponderosa?

Tuscaloosa is a mere 58'ish miles away ... from me. A little further than that from the battling pond. heh.

We historic house types love to go check up on the competition, hence a visit to Tuscaloosa. Plus get to see a classmate from the MPS program.

MPS (Must Prepare to Swim) is an Allied training program for its captains :)

I have the info on the pond location, but will wait till I get home to post, as I have much greater capability to work with images at home. Suffice to say it will be easy to get to, but poorly marked. I am going to try to get some signage to post by the road. On the plus side, there isn't anything near the gate to confuse for the correct location.

I have communed with Brian K, and I will be picking up the hot dogs, ketchup, and buns on Saturday morning. Anyone desiring other fixins can bring them. There was an unpleasant incident in the past where someone eating my free hotdogs b****ed about no mustard. :) So please keep Freiherr von Tugboat a smiling man and bring any condiments you must have, with you :)

Not sure. Depends on when I leave Birmingham. Late afternoon I should guess.

Cool. I talked to Brian K, he wants to jump in for dinner, too. You like Mexican? Greek? Plain 'ole 'Merican Food?

Greek would be my preference, but I am sure I can find something Mexican palatable. Basically as long as it is not fried catfish or crawfish I can usually handle it.

Fried catfish or crawfish? I think I just threw up a little in my mouth. Even if they weren't gross :) they are definately not on the Axis-approved cardiac diet.
