Some of the groups members are getting the Denmark Straits boats refitted so that they can get that battle going again.
Some of the ships may be opperational at the battles later on this year. But the primary plan is to get them up and running for a spring event so that we can re-enact that historical battle again.
We have not set any dates as of yet for the spring event, but the dates for that battle so many years ago fall on Memorial Day weekend.
We now also have the HMS Rodney being refitted by her new owner. So we are looking into possibly having the Bismarck's final battle as well.
    We will keep you posted.

We are planning to re-enact the Battle of the Denmark Straits tomorrow (May 24) out in Xenia, Ohio.
At some point on Monday (May 27), we plan to have the Bismarck's final battle.
    We will post battle reports.

The British won the battle of the Denmark Straits on Friday, when Bat's Bismarck had to withdraw from the second sortie with wet radio issues after he came within seconds of sinking in the first sortie.
So the German will have to listen to it for another year until they get a chance to get some revenge.
More later. I am on the run. I have to go get myself sunk again.

    Mikey,
What about a re-match in Sept. it wouldn't count anything, but it would let me get it on video, and give me a chance to see them(hood, POW , Bismarck and Prinz) together. what the score for the battle 3-0 britain :)

I am not sure that I see that happening I guess.
I know that the Denmark Straits boats were scheduled to take part in that battle, and then be detailed up for display until the Denmark Straits event next year.
The British also won the Bismarck's last stand battle on Monday, when the Bismarck sank in the second sortie of that battle.

Probably due to an overabundance of holes in the side of the ship. Heh.

According to Roland, his Bismarck had atleast 128 BBs in it after the Bismarcks last stand engagement, he was chased closed to shore, and was momentary grounded, after loosing a blade from his prop, and attempting not to become mossed, HMS Rodney closed the distance and fired away. Not unlike the historical event in which the Bismarck was unable to Flee from the slow British slugger, and like the historic battle in which the Bismarck was forced to fight it out, Roland decided to fight it out, instead of calling his five and potentially surviving the barrage of British BBs.

other than historically inaccurate nikki, I think another sunk German ship would only further to the Allies point lead..

After speaking with Vance about the Denmark Straits battle in May, we have decided to run the British ships this year.
Vance wants to run the Prince of Wales, and I will be running the Mighty Hood.
We will be getting all four of the ships ready during the next two months.
At this time, we do not know who will be running the German ships.
We do not have the details of the Memorial Day weekend event sorted out just yet. But the Battle of the Denmark Straits will most likely take place on Saturday May 24. Probably sometime in the afternoon.
Matt currently owns the Rodney. And we anticipate that we will probably re-enact the Bismarck's last stand battle again this year.
    We will post up-dates.

Hood, Bismarck, and P.E. are all out in the shop being worked on.
P.E. is the closest to being ready for next weekend's battle. I am making just a couple of adjustments to her, and hope to touch up the paint.
Hood is pretty close to being ready as well. Needs a little cosmetic stuff worked on.
Bismarck was in the battle last year, but just wasn't battle-ready. I just didn't find the time to give him a good going through.
So this time around, I am trying to concentrate on the big guy.
The radio box is open. I won't get a chance to actually replace the old wooden box. But I am currently in the old box, making some needed improvements.
I am also trying to install a newer radio, and ESC.
I will post up-dates as time permits.

I am currently working on other projects in the shop.
But at some point in February we will get back to work on the Denmark Straits boats so that they will be ready for the big battle again in May.
Hood, Prince of Wales, and P.E. will get new sheeting and a paint job, in addition to some reworking of the internals.
If Roland plans to run his Bismarck again this year, then we may or may not work on our Bismarck, as the internals for that boat are currently in one of the new allied battlecruisers that we plan to run this spring.

Roland is planning to run his Bismarck again for this years epic battle. He is then planning to retire the brute. So I am planning to team up with him in the German cruiser.
I generally like to run my old Hood for this battle. But trying to help Roland score a win for the Germans is quite exciting. So I will let someone else run the Hood.

I am not sure if that is a good idea Nikki. For two main reasons.
    First off.
You have boats now. Bring one of them, and focus on it.
Bring it. Run it. Battle it. Maintain it.
    Secondly. And more importantly.
Roland and I would like to have at least a slim chance of winning this time around.:D
