I know that some formats have different events resembling historical events, like the Bismark's Last Stand, and the Battle of the Denmark Strait, but has anybody ever wanted to do a Battle of the Falkland Islands?
Basically all you would need is two Invincible class battle cruisers, and two Scharnhorst class armored cruisers.
I guess really the question is, would anybody want to do it? I'd build an Invincible if this ever gets off the ground.:)
So, what are you guys thoughts on this?

Coolness. A classic sea battle. Any one have any early RN CL's? I have Emden plans which could pass for some of Spee's CL's.

So, we have the two armored cruisers, now all we need is someone to build another I-boat. I don't know if the CL's would really be worthwhile building. They would be small and not have very many units.

Also, does anybody have I-boat plans that I could dowload?
So, it looks like my dream might come true after all. :)

Generally 1.5 units in MWC. for the CL's. Same problems as destroyers but a bit bigger.

Which format do you guys think would be best? I'm thinking MWC, because Tuggy's Scharnie is a MWC boat and Absolutek's is and IRC\MWC combo. Do you guys agree? I guess another problem is location. Canada, Pennsylvania and Georgia, are pretty far apart. :(

And Chase knows how to get here :) And there is already an I-boat in Statesboro, actively battling.

There is only one problem on my part. Statesboro is a 12hr drive from where I live. :( Plus, I don't have my license yet.

Yeah the lack of license could be a bit of a problem.

Yup, if we did it up here around Ohio, or Maryland, I would be able to do it, but Georgia is too far right now.

So, I guess we ran into a dead end? Any ideas on how we could do it up near me?

as an I boat driver, there's no way I'd be interested in putting my beloved Invincible out there to get embarrassed by a pair of crappy armored cruisers. I've battled against those ACRs, and I'd never get my sidemounts on target. they are simply too maneuverable. I doubt they'd sink me, but they'd shoot me full of holes then laugh at me while I patch.

There's a reason why you have Scharnhorst captains signing up, and no I boats. Invincibles are darned fine ships, but this is not a good matchup for them.

Well the hobby is not historically accurate. It will be good to see von Spee get his own back . :D

I could always bring my Inflexible for somebody to run if the other Iboat captains are too cowardly to show up ;)

I'll build an I boat and battle it. I'm not afraid to patch holes. :) Btw what size pond is a nice size to battle in? I'm trying to find a pond to do the battle in here locally. If you guys even want to do it locally.

I don't know if your club has restrictions on names, but if not, you should name your I-boat HMS Inedible.
